Last April, my school community came together to give me a tree to plant in honor of my mother, who had passed away the previous Fall. I picked out a Rising Star Magnolia because their flowers are so beautiful and one of the first to bloom in Spring, brightening your mood when you are so ready for winter's gray to come to an end. My mother-in-law had a plaque made for me to mark the tree. I was walking the dogs last night when I came around the front of the house and saw these silky white, perfect flowers in the tree. Mom's Magnolia is blooming for the first time. Just as I had hoped, it did indeed brighten my mood and filled me with the simple joy of Nature's beauty. What a gift.
