Josh put down this plastic flooring to help keep the floor from rotting as the bedding builds up over time in the coop. We are going with a method called "deep litter" where you only clean the bedding out about once/year. The idea is that you continue to add fresh layers on top, the birds turn it with their pecking, and eventually it becomes rich compost you can use in your garden. What I've read seems to show that this method produces stronger birds because, exposed to small amounts of bacteria and naturally occurring pathogens in their droppings, their immune systems grow stronger. Anyway, the flooring will help protect the wood floor as the litter gets deep and sits. Josh did his happy dance to help it stick and to celebrate being another step closer to finished.

Flooring makes us happy
